Original Slipknot vocalist Anders Colsefni has shut down rumours he might be rejoining the group, following Corey Taylor’s excitement towards the concept last week.
For over a week now, the members of Slipknot have been involved in what is shaping up to be a rather lengthy legal battle.
Following claims from percussionist Chris Fehn that he had not been properly compensated for his work in the group, Slipknot issued a (since-deleted) statement confirming Fehn’s departure, while frontman Corey Taylor claimed he was “wrongfully accused” in this whole mess.
However, prior to Taylor’s denial of guilt, the vocalist was also asked whether or not Chris Fehn’s ostensible departure from the group could open the door for a return from founding member, Anders Colsefni.
While Taylor responded by saying “Fuck I would LOVE that”, Colsefni has shut down any hope of this happening in a recent social media post.
Taking to Facebook over the weekend, Anders Colsefni denied that he would be rejoining the band at any time, noting he now has a “real job”, and that he ‘doesn’t know’ the members of Slipknot these days.
“I’m going to take away the uncomfortable conversations that Slipknot might have regarding myself and reported band vacancy by saying: I will NOT be rejoining Slipknot,” Colsefni wrote.
“It is certainly not for any animosity I have – I simply don’t know those guys anymore. I generally give those I don’t know the benefit of the doubt.”
“As much as I had dreamed of rejoining my creation (shut up – I know it’s a different band now!),” he continued, “It is not enough of a dream anymore to risk being homeless when the tour is over!”
Anders Colsefni was one of the founding members of Slipknot, appearing as the vocalist on their 1996 Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. demo. Following the recruitment of Corey Taylor in 1997, Colsefni made the decision to leave the group.
Over the weekend, the lawyer of Chris Fehn revealed that his client is technically a member of Slipknot still, and would choose to remain so if he had his way.
“He thought everyone was being treated equally,” Dunne explained. “My client really is just hoping to figure out a way to work this out with the people he’s worked side by side with for the last 20 years.”
In related news, Slipknot were recently announced as the support act for Metallica’s first Australian tour in six years. At this stage, there’s no word whether or not Chris Fehn will appear on these upcoming dates.
