After triumphing with one of the greatest festivals in Australia in 2010, organisers of Splendour In The Grass say that it looks increasingly like it’ll stay at what was to be a temporary site at Woodford, in Queensland. The festival had planned to move to a new site closer to Byron Bay at North Byron Parklands, but the planning application is caught up in NSW Government red tape.
Organisers won’t get a green or red light until February, and that’s not enough notice for the event in August. The 267 acre site was bought by festival organisers in 2006 to use as a permanent venue, but the planning approvals process has been agonising. The use of the Woodford site should be welcome for fans attending next year, with punters giving this year’s event a big thumbs up.
