Legendary band The Roots now have their very own street in their name. In honour of the legendary group, a road in their hometown of Philadelphia has been renamed to “The Avenue of The Roots.”

Group co-founder and Fallon bandleader Questlove took to Instagram to share the news of the sign’s renaming, writing,

“Welp this is very Philly: technically we were supposed to wait for the vote and then like in May come Picnic Time we’d have an unveiling w confetti & kool-aid lol but cats was like “NOAP!!! WE FINNA PUT THIS JAWN UP NOW!!!!! really awesome to see the place we honed our skills and craft embrace us like this.”

Questlove’s note went on to explain that the idea to rename the stretch of road on East Passyunk Avenue below South Street was a resolution introduced last Thursday by City Council by Councilmember Mark Squilla. By the next morning, the new sign was already up.

In recent Questlove news, the artist has launched his very own range of popcorn flavours. Here is what we wrote on that story:

The Roots drummer and frontman Questlove has collaborated with Williams Sonoma on a “signature popcorn collection”. The collection includes avocado oil spray, different popcorn seasonings, and a limited edition “Glow bowl”.

In a statement about the collection Questlove said “Movies and popcorn are one of the classic pairs in Western Civilization, like Starsky and Hutch or Ashford and Simpson. Being an avid movie-goer and huge popcorn fan, I wanted to create my own popcorn collection and give it a personal Questovian spin, in two directions. The first is my custom seasonings, which let you put extra punctuation on the sentence of your popcorn, either directly from the shaker or SNEAKIES, with the help of a good spray of avocado oil for full seasoning coverage. The second is the Glow Bowl I designed that will make your popcorn happy when it’s laying in there and you happy when you’re scooping it up with your hands on date night or at a holiday gathering.”
