Have you ever been to a UB40 gig, only to try and fight the lead singer in a bar afterwards? No? Well, it sounds like you’ve not lived a life quite as interesting as US Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, then.
If you’re not too well-versed in the world of US politics, you might not be aware of who Brett Kavanaugh is. He’s Donald Trump’s nomination for the US Supreme Court, but he’s also at the centre of quite a bit of controversy, with multiple women coming forward to accuse him of alleged sexual misconduct in the past.
However, this investigation into Kavanaugh’s past has been turning up some interesting information, including a police report that explains he was once questioned after a bar fight back in 1985.
According to the New York Times, Chad Ludington, a college classmate of Bree Kavanuagh, explained how the US jurist got into a fight with a man in a bar, thinking him to be the vocalist of UB40.
According to Ludington, the incident occurred after they had attended a UB40 concert at Yale University. The pair were reportedly in a bar called Demery’s when Kavanaugh noted that the man sitting near them looked like UB40 singer Ali Campbell.
“We’re trying to figure out if it’s him,” explained Chad Ludington, noting that the man soon noticed, and asked them to stop, adding that Kavanaugh “threw his beer at the guy.”
“The guy swung at Brett,” Ludington continued, before noting that their friend Chris Dudley “took his beer and smashed it into the head of the guy, who by now had Brett in an embrace.”
“I then tried to pull Chris back, and a bunch of other guys tried to pull the other guy back,” he continued. “I don’t know what Brett was doing in the melee, but there was blood, there was glass, there was beer and there was some shouting, and the police showed up.”
According to the police report, Brett Kavanaugh and four others were questioned, though the Supreme Court nominee “did not want to say” whether or not he threw his beer at the man. Whatever the case, he was not arrested following the incident.
