Juice WRLD is on the receiving end of a lawsuit, with a teenage producer accusing the US rapper of ripping off one of his tracks.
Back in May of 2018, Chicago rapper Juice WRLD released his debut album, Goodbye & Good Riddance. A moderate success around the world, the rapper’s greatest success was arguably its lead single, ‘Lucid Dreams’, which reached #8 on the Aussie charts.
However, the song was not without controversy, having raised the ire of Sting for interpolating the riff to ‘Shape Of My Heart’ throughout the track.
While Sting was reportedly flattered by the tune, Juice WRLD’s producer, Nick Mira, claimed that the former frontman of The Police had filed a lawsuit over the track, taking 85% of its royalties in the process.
Now, history could be set to repeat, with a teenage producer setting his sights on the rapper.

As TMZ reports, 16-year-old Jerome Willisch has filed a lawsuit through his guardians, accusing Juice WRLD of ripping off the beat used for his single ‘Lean Wit Me’.
Willisch, who performs under the name Fly Jxy, claims that his 2018 song ‘Ice’ was the inspiration for ‘Lean Wit Me’, with producers reportedly “copying the essential beat and foundation” from his own track, all without his permission or credit.
As TMZ also points out, Willisch states he’s only filed a copyright for his song this week, and hasn’t secured the rights at the current time. Despite this, he claims Juice WRLD ripped off his track, and is asking for the song to be removed from the airwaves, along with an unspecified amount of damages.
Producer Nick Mira has since weighed in on the issue, taking to Twitter to deny copying the track at all. “‘Lean Wit Me’ was recorded from scratch by myself and only me,” he explained. “I played all the guitar myself and recorded the drums.”
Of course, this isn’t the only case of artists being accused of ripping off songs lately, with The Weeknd and Daft Punk being hit with a $5 million lawsuit over their 2016 track ‘Starboy’.
