Their urban swagger, indie groove, and rock n’ roll sensibilities have been drawing punters from far and wide to their acclaimed live show since 2010. Now, Melbourne band The Delta Riggs are back and creating a buzz with the release of their new single ‘Supersonic Casualties’.

Ahead of the release of their own sophomore record Dipz Zebazios, we had a chat to the group’s bassist Michael Tramonte about his favourite second albums of all time.

Nirvana – Nevermind

1991, DGC Records

This really needs no explaining, does it? Everything from the songs to the timing to the story behind this record is incredible. It still gets played as vehemently today as it did when it blew up in 1992.

Oasis – (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?

1995, Epic Records

Love them or hate them, the songs on this record are faultless in my opinion. So much swagger yet still full of undeniable hooks that stand up today against anything. This is their career record and I love the Gallagher brothers’ banter that ensued over the years.

Kings Of Leon – Aha Shake Heartbreak

2004, Song BMG

Another one with just solid songs. Slightly more polished than the first record, but still enough brash to not understand what Caleb is saying half the time. I still love listening to this album, it’s my favourite KOL release.

Fleetwood Mac – Rumours

(As The Contemporary  Fleetwood Mac Lineup)

1977, Warner Bros. Records

I read the book Making Rumours, which the engineer for the record penned. It was the perfect insight to one of the world’s most publicised albums. Going into this virtually unknown with the fresh lineup including Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham and coming out of it as one of the biggest bands in the ’70s. Inject some drama and Rumours and you have a near perfect second record.

Phoenix – Alphabetical

2004, Source UK

My favourite pop band. I’ve seen Phoenix about eight times and they always rule. This is probably my favourite record. The songs are just pure French pop perfection. The production, song arrangements, and playing on this rules.
