Spin.com reports that Jean Flowers, mother of The Killers front man passed away this week after a two year battle with brain cancer aged 64.

The band had cancelled shows in Sydney and Perth last weekend for what at the time was said to be ‘due to the severity of the illness of a close family member’. The sad news was confirmed by an obituary in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. As of this morning, Thursday 18th, The Killers Good Vibrations shows on the Gold Coast on Saturday 20th and Melbourne Sunday 21st are still going ahead according to the band’s website.

Rumours have been circulating that the band’ s planned hiatus after these gigs will become permanent, although this has been denied by the band.
