The Offspring were supposed to be touring Australia right now, but instead they are making the best of coronavirus isolation and have covered the song ‘Here Kitty Kitty’.

On a day when they should have been gearing up to perform in Melbourne on a tour with Sum 41, they’ve gifted us with a version of the tune, which was recently popularised by Netflix doco Tiger King.

‘Here Kitty Kitty’ was written by the Clinton Morrison Band, although Tiger King protagonist Joe Exotic claimed he wrote it about arch-nemesis Carole Baskin. Exotic even released his own music video for his dub of the tune.

It was something that The Offspring were only too keen to point out.

“We are going a little stir crazy these days & wanted to do something fun to put a smile on our faces & hopefully on some of yours too,” the band tweeted, when posting their cover.

“Here Kitty Kitty was originally by the Clinton Johnson band & *not* by anyone in that recent doc we all got caught up in.”

The Offspring’s newly filmed clip is pretty epic, featuring members of the band playing the drums and dancing around in tiger suits, and others in pandemic face masks.

“The Offspring wives were group texting recently, and while they all agreed that they truly love their husbands, there are times when they’ve absolutely felt like feeding us to the tigers. In that spirit, we hope you enjoy this random song & video,” said the band.

Their 2020 tour with Sum 41 has not yet been rescheduled, but the fact that it is currently postponed and not cancelled has to be a good sign.

Last year The Offspring also pledged to release an album in 2020, so that’s something to look forward to!
