Okay everybody remain calm, a new album from The Offspring is actually on its way. And actually, it’s kind of already happened.

The imminent record will mark the band’s tenth album release. And it’ll also be their first album drop since Days Go By in 2012.

The band’s Dexters and Noodles posted a video via their social media, addressing the long wait time for the album – not without a few giggles, as well as to tease it too.

Dexter says, “Well we’ve been talking about putting out a record, right. We’ve been saying we should put out a record.”

Noodles replies, “I’ve been talking about it for years. I keep saying, ‘It’s coming out, it’s coming out.’ Nobody believes me anymore.

Finally Dexter gives it to us plain and simple: “I think we should tell them we’re putting out a record.”

After a bit of back and forth banter between the guys, they finally admit that this time these aren’t just rumours, this time the announcement’s actually legit.

“It’s finished, it’s done, it’s in the can, as they say. We’ve got songs, we’ve got titles, we’ve got a label, we’ve got an album title, we’ve got a cover, we’ve got artwork and stuff. It’s ready to go. We’re putting this out.”

When will the album be released? Dexter says that the band have a release date, however, “We’re going to talk about all that stuff when the label lets us.”

For those of us that are super keen, they aren’t letting us go without.

They’ve confirmed that in the lead-up to the release, they’re going to be dropping a single. The date for that is also to be announced.

In terms of what we can expect the album to sound like, apparently it going to sound like their “old shit”.

Dexter told Kerrang! in an interview, It sounds like our old shit! That’s what I’m supposed to say, right?”

He says, “I don’t really know how to describe it. I guess it’s punk rock, but then we throw in a couple of songs that aren’t what you’d normally predict. We have a lot of really fast stuff on there, plus a couple of things that you might not really expect from us.”
