With so much new music floating around the interwebs, sometimes it’s hard to dig a little deeper and find out more about a promising artist.

That’s why The Profile is breaking it down for you. The Pitch takes care of the nitty gritty factual bits, The Plot serves as a Q & A with the artist, and The Plug is where you can go for more.

The Pitch

After a massive year, culminating in being awarded the coveted title of Triple J’s Unearthed Artist of the Year and performing at the sold out NYE On The Hill Festival, REMi hits the ground running in 2014 with a national run of shows through February.

Playing to his growing number of fans nationwide, this will be the last opportunity to catch REMi in such intimate settings before the release of new material later in 2014.

REMi’s much anticipated new single ‘Livin’ will also be dropping ahead of these national shows to provide fans with a taste of the new material to come from the J Award winner, who is also up in the Most Promising Artist category for Tone Deaf’s own 4th Annual Readers Poll.

The Plot

Hometown:
I was born in Canberra, but moved to Melbourne’s South Eastern when I was about 1, so I don’t know if it really counts.

Influences:
Common, The Roots, Mos Def, Clipse, J Dilla, Phonte, D’angelo, Radiohead, and  Slum Village:

Dream rider:
I heard That Jay Z got a Mercedes Maybach on his rider. If I can get a car on my rider, even a smart car or some shit, I’d be pretty hyped.

Dream collaboration/s:
Flying Lotus, The Roots, Thom Yorke, D’angelo and Maybe Burial just to make things interesting.

Best gig you’ve ever been to:
It’s Between The Roots at Festival Hall, and Parliament at Meredeth. Both were INSANE live performances that I will never forget, even though I shouldn’t be able to remember Parliament’s set, seeing as it was at Meredith.

What’s your favourite local:
It’s gotta be Section 8 at the moment, the vibe is just the bestest.

Favourite local act:
Hiatus Kaiyote
