Future Entertainment has just confirmed what we all already knew, that The Rapture will be coming out for Future Music Festival in 2012 off the back of a brand spanking new album. A statement on the Future website reads as follows:
We weren’t quite planning a Future Music Festival 2012 announcement so soon, but it appears that Luke Jenner, The Rapture’s enigmatic front man had other ideas! He clearly couldn’t contain his excitement about The Rapture’s inclusion on the festival and wanted to share the news with J Mag telling them: “It hasn’t been announced yet, but I think in March hopefully we’ll be back for Future. I don’t think I’m technically supposed to tell you that so let’s just keep that between you, me and the rest of Australia.”
[Note from Future Entertainment: Ummmm…no you weren’t Luke, we even pinky-sweared on keeping it a secret…sheesh!], but we’re gonna forgive you because we too couldn’t wait to shout it from the roof tops and all is forgiven when you go on to gush to J Mag about your love for playing to your Australian fans, “Yeah, I can’t wait to get back. I mean Australia has kept me alive for the last 5 years and kept food on the table for me and my family. So I have a deep respect for Australia and the people and it’s just so much fun to play there.”
We’ll have to wait for the official announcement until we hear the rest of the lineup but that hasn’t stopped a few people taking some punts. News Ltd music reporter Nui Te Koha has said The Strokes are “on the table for the Future Music festival in March next year. They were supposed to be here for Foo Fighters in December but the deal didn’t quite work out so they’re on the bill for the Future Music festival.”
He continued “hearing that Duran Duran are a possibility for Summadayze or the Future Music festival as well. Duran Duran were supposed to play wineries and there were talks about that but it looks like they’re going to go to a dance festival.”
Keep your eyes peeled for any more clues.
