The Saboteurs have announced the impending release of a new live album, with Live In Tulsa being recorded at Oklahoma’s historic Cain’s Ballroom last month.
If you know much about the enigmatic Jack White, it’s that he’s something of a fan of classic blues music, and the iconic music locations of yesteryear.
In addition to splitting his time between his home of Detroit, Michigan, and the headquarters of Third Man Records in Nashville, Tennessee, you can often find him residing in his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Despite having had a run in with the University of Oklahoma about a guacamole recipe some years back, White is often found around Tulsa, famously helping to save the house from Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic film, The Outsiders.
However, for those unaware of why White may have chosen to live in a city like Tulsa, it’s likely due to a number of things. Namely, the city’s importance in the world blues, rock, and country music, and the presence of the iconic Cain’s Ballroom.
Having first opened back in 1924, the venue was at first an automobile garage before being turned into a dance academy in the ’30s, eventually being abandoned before reopening as a rock venue in the ’70s.
Since then, it’s become known as a frequent haunt for many iconic musicians, and even hosted the Sex Pistols’ penultimate show of their ill-fated US tour in 1978.

Just last month though, renowned fan Jack White brought his band The Saboteurs (or, The Raconteurs as they’re actually known in America) to the venue he calls his “favorite place to play in the world” for a typically-impressive three-night run of shows.
Now, Third Man Records are releasing the highlights in a brand new package.

Released via the label’s Vault subscription service, this new package provides the best moments of The Saboteurs’ three-night residency, which served as the first time a band has sold-out three consecutive nights at the venue.
Featuring classics from the impressive back catalogue, the record features a Matthew Jacobson-designed cover which shows the Tulsa Fire Alarm building, and is pressed on “vibrant copper, green, and black coloured vinyl.”
However, it doesn’t end there though, with the package also including an acoustic performance of Jack White and Brendan Benson playing together in July for the former’s 44th birthday at the Third Man Records headquarters.
In addition to that, it also includes a concert film of the White and Benson performing together for the first time at the Garden Bowl Lounge in Detroit on March 14th, 1999.
Needless to say, it’s an impressive package, and will undoubtedly help to remind fans who were lucky enough to witness The Saboteurs’ debut Australian shows earlier this year just why they’re one of the best live bands on the scene.
