The Terrys are putting on a free gig in Sydney next week

With the 2022 Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards fast approaching, The Terrys are putting on a free gig in Sydney to amp us up in anticipation.

In partnership with Sailor Jerry, Rolling Stone Australia will be hosting the surf rockers The Terrys at Mary’s Underground in Sydney as part of the Sailor Jerry Road to Rolling Stone series, a gig lineup set to celebrate the lead up to the 2022 Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards – and, with the awards right around the corner, the series has already kicked off with Eliza & The Delusionals for starters, The Grogans bringing the middle, and now The Terrys to wrap it all up on March 17th.

With the past two years bringing its fair share of tough times to the music industry – gigs being cancelled and music halted across the country for numerous hard-working musicians who would otherwise be performing to packed crowds on any given night – it’s time for punters to get back to the sticky floors of venues across Australia. With this in mind, Sailor Jerry and Rolling Stone Australia have connected in a grassroots effort to bring live music back to stages and independent venues around the country – meaning we can get back to drinking some perfectly spiced rum while listening to some great, homegrown artists.

Known for their mastering of the surf rock sound, the outfit – with their EP and slew of singles in hand – The Terrys plan to give punters a bit of a taste as to what is to come, bringing a bit of anticipation to the 2022 Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards, and wrapping up the Sailor Jerry Road to Rolling Stone concerts.

Happening at Mary’s Underground on Thursday, March 17th, the gig is entirely free, and open-door, meaning that you won’t even have to register for tickets. With the doors opening at 7pm, the first 100 guests to arrive will receive a free gift in addition to the main event that starts at 9:30pm.

Being from Gerringong, New South Wales, The Terrys five members, Jacob Finch, Lukas Anderson, and Ben Salvo, Cameron Cooper, and Trent Cooper, know how to get Sydney-siders busy and keen for some good music, as they began by putting on a show for their neighbours as they ran through noise complaints as they jammed in their shared trailer house. But, don’t worry, they’re not just what the ol’ neighbours would call “noise” – they’re a surf-rock infused force to be reckoned with, and they know how to put on a good show – and, if you show up at Mary’s Underground on March 17th, you’ll be able to witness the masterminds at work.

Drawing inspiration from legends like The Bungalows, Pond, and Skeggs as well as a bit of Brit influence like Will And The People and Jamie T., The Terrys music is solid, and will get you pumped and ready to slurp some Sailor Jerry while grooving to their crafty guitar hooks, sensational drums, and magnetic vocals that will draw you in.

Dubbed “your new favourite surf-indie outfit” by triple j in 2021, The Terrys have a throng of singles in their arsenal like ‘Our Paradise’, ‘Cost The Piece’, ‘IDK’, ‘Melbourne Bitterz’, and, of course, their debut single ‘Video Games’ that came out less than two years ago.

Between their six-song EP, The TerrySonic Mix Tape, the fact that they sold out their 2020 ‘Tezz Fest’ across Wollongong and Sydney, and their song ‘Pesos’ landed itself in the top 20 Australian Songs of the Year from AU Review, The Terrys clearly know what they’re doing in the vein of surf-rock, and this free Sailor Jerry Road to Rolling Stone gig is just the thing to get you hooked, grooving, and quickly addicted to their sound.
