Craig Nicholls appears to have laid off the hamburgers and the bongs for a while, because The Vines have announced a few details of their new album and a new single.

The new album, entitled Future Primitive, was recorded by Wolf & Cub producer Chris Colonna early last year and will follow up 2008’s Melodia which saw the band attempt to promote it with tours but then pull dates citing the need to focus on Nicholls’ ‘mental health’.

The new single has been released to Triple J, and at 1 minute 51 seconds, it sees the band at their most abbreviated. It’s actually quite a good track, reminiscent of The Beatles in ‘Helter Skelter’ or The Hives at their best. We’re told to wait for the album in April.
