Back in November Jered Eames made headlines around the world by scamming his way into a European tour for his metal band “Threatin”. Now the artist has opened up about the tour and his scam in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Eames faked a management team, record label, and PR firm to book himself the European tour as Threatin. The musician also created fake concert videos and paid for Facebook likes and attendees on tour events.

When news of the scam began to spread, Eames released a statement on Twitter stating “What is Fake News? I turned an empty room into an international headline. If you are reading this, you are part of the illusion.” The bassist who was hired for the tour also recently released a lengthy video statement about the tour, saying “I would work with him again, no problem.”
In his interview with Rolling Stone Eames says “There was no way that I was going to get enough attention being a rock artist in 2018 unless I did something to get people to pay attention.” Whilst he admitted “It’s a publicity stunt,” he did tell the interviewer “the music is very real”.
Eames’ brother also spoke about when the artist was younger and they were in a band together, saying the younger sibling would “show up to family events like he was playing a show — jacket and sunglasses and the walk. It got to the point where most of us were rolling our eyes.”
Jered remembers that time differently, saying “He was struggling to keep up, and he was the older brother, I always knew that I was better.” You’ve got to give him some credit for his infallible confidence.
Responding to claims that he that he is just a privileged artist who could afford to purchase the fame he desired, the solo member of Threatin said “I’m not some fucking rich kid, all this is, is good money management.”
The rest of the interview touches on how he feels about the negative reaction to the tour, as well as his music. It also talks about what Jered has in store for the future of Threatin.
