After making the rounds of the world’s film festivals, including the Melbourne International Film Festival and SXSW, Breaking A Monster, which documents the sudden rise of Brooklyn trio Unlocking The Truth is getting a theatrical release.

The gripping trailer for the film is now available and you can check it out below. It delves back into the history of the band and quickly chronicles their journey from basement band, to New York City buskers, to the victims of a major label frenzy.

We’ve previous covered how the three 12-year-old boys became ensnared in a $1.8 million contract with Sony Music Entertainment after a video of the band performing live in New York’s iconic Times Square went viral online.

As well as documenting their swift rise, the documentary covers the realities of having a major label sign three young boys whose previous reality was made up of hanging out with friends and playing games like Grand Theft Auto.

Eventually, the long, drawn-out meetings with label representatives, who each have an idea about how to best market the boys, regardless of their cooperation, begin to get to the band. Check it all out in the trailer below.
