Tool fans are undoubtedly feeling the excitement, with frontman Maynard James Keenan reportedly set to make some “long awaited announcements” this week.

Next month, fans of Tool are set to receive what they once thought to be nothing more than a pipe dream; a new album.

Coming 13 years after the release of 2006’s 10,000 Days, the new record is a highly-anticipated one, with the band appearing to almost mock the level of hype surrounding its release by almost refusing to engage in any publicity.

In fact, while their usual April Fools Day joke seemed to never eventuate, even the announcement of the album’s release date was done without any fanfare.

Similarly, their constant battle with streaming services have left fans wondering not only when their music might appear on platforms like Spotify, but when we might finally receive the upcoming record’s first single.

Now, it appears we’re closing to receiving some big news.

Taking to Instagram this morning, the official Tool account revealed that Maynard James Keenan will make his return to The Joe Rogan Experience podcast this week to discuss a number of topics, including “how Eddie Bravo has been the subject of the Elon Musk brain chip research this whole time.”

Most excitingly though, Maynard will reportedly also be “making some long awaited announcements”, causing fans to get themselves a ticket to the hype train.

Now, understandably, these same fans are wondering if we are in fact about to get new information about the forthcoming Tool record. After all, this podcast will be going live just days after Maynard confirmed that a new album from Puscifer would be released in 2021.

However, considering the fact that the post itself is tagged with the phrase “#tool2019”, we reckon there’s a fair chance we’ll at least hear something about the new record. (Or, failing that, we’ll at least hear Joe Rogan ask the rocker if he’s ever done DMT.)

In related news, Tool recently made headlines after their 1991 demo tape appeared on some (but not all) streaming services.

While reps from the band confirmed this was not official, it was the first time that any of the group’s music has ever been available for streaming, undoubtedly making next month’s arrival of a new album all the more exciting.
