The excitement for Tool’s forthcoming album appears to be ramping up, with the band updating their website with new animations.

Over the weekend, Tool drummer Danny Carey was spotted at a music conference in California where he delivered one of the most promising updates about the band’s new album yet.

“Yeah, it’s gonna be out in mid-April,” Carey explained to a fan inquiring about the new record. “That’s the plan, anyway.”

Needless to say, fans all over the world went wild at this news, especially knowing that their 13 year wait could be over in a matter of months.

Of course, some others were taking this with a grain of salt. After all, Carey never said which April the record was coming out in, and this is the same guy who said a new album would be released in 2018. Needless to say, the expectations of fans were definitely a little tempered.

However, we’ve now received the closest thing to an official statement from the band that indicates things are moving forward, with their website receiving a new animated update.

As Metal Injection notes, the above videos appeared on the band’s website earlier today, much to the delight of their legions of fans.

At this stage, the band hasn’t released any form of press release or statement addressing the new animations, though history tells us there’s a good chance that guitarist Adam Jones and visual artist Alex Grey might be involved in the clip.

While the animations are without music, they do bear a striking resemblance to animation used in previous Tool videos, such as 2006’s ‘Vicarious’, to name a (comparatively) recent example.

Of course, while it seems as though Tool are indeed gearing up to release a new record, it seems that the speculation will have to now begin as to what the new album could sound like. So far, the only preview we’ve received is a four-minute instrumental sample from a trailer to posted to the band’s Facebook.

Titled ‘Descending’, the track made its debut at live shows back in 2015, though there’s obviously been no news about its potential release. Now, it looks as though we’re getting ever closer, and fans are undoubtedly ecstatic to receive this new album when it finally drops.
