Aussie (via London) singer songwriter Kelly Dance has recently unveiled her stunning new EP All That’s Gained.

While crafting this EP inspired by science fiction writer Chan Koonchung’s ‘The Fat Years’ published 2009 and activist Lu Xun’s allegory ‘A Madman’s Diary’ published 1918.

Influenced by Chinese Science-Fiction stories,All That’s Gained captures individual stories of life, love and loss in a rapidly changing culture unfolding faster than any other in human history.

To celebrate the release of the EP Kelly has given us a track by track run down of the record which you can check out below and if you like what you’re hearing pop by Kelly Dance’s Facebook for more info.

<=h2>All That’s Gained

Reflects on the gridlock between kids coming of age in China pushing the boundaries of personal expression and optimistic about future possibilities and the ever-present Leviathan state maintaining peace, economic growth and stability through control.

Dangerous Visions

The conflict between self-expression and the interests of others, “Dangerous Visions” describes the self doubt and paranoia – the monster in the mind – that grows and threatens our sanity when our reality is different to those around us because we see a truth that others don’t or won’t

Socotra

Socotra, is an archipelago of four small islands in the Indian Ocean where one third of the plant life is found nowhere else on earth. Socotra is separate from the reality we know, and is likened to the Internet, which is itself an alternate reality; a place oftentimes of chaos and disorder but which holds the timeless allure of future possibility.

Remember Me

Remember Me is the conflict between a girl dreaming of leaving the big city of Beijing for a better life in the hills of Yunan and her fear of leaving her lover behind.
