Today’s the day, music lovers. It’s time to tie a bow around one of the worst years in recent memory with the dulcet tones of triple j’s Hottest 100 for 2020.
As is tradition, we’ve already learnt a few facts about the countdown in advance, with triple j revealing that this year is set to be a big one. Of course, we’re pretty eager to see who is going to come out on top of this year’s poll.
Notably, this year’s countdown looks like it’s on track to be one of the closest polls in recent memory. Just over a week ago, triple j revealed that a mere 350 votes separated the top two songs, with voting only having a couple of days left. Could we be looking at a repeat of 2007’s infamous upset? Or will we be left sitting on the edge of our seats all day waiting for the result?
Of course, plenty of other questions are still left to be answered as well. Will Glass Animals take out the top spot and make good on their promise to cop some celebratory arse tats? And will we maybe see an appearance from the unintentionally-controversial Taylor Swift?
