BrisVegas! If you’re a fan, you probably already know that Troye Sivan is heading your way on 23rd September (you can still get tix here if this is news!!). If you’re coming to the gig, get hyped, because Troye Sivan has announced a costume theme for his fans to get around: Opulence. We’ll save you a google search by explaining what that means; money money money and fancy fancy fancy. It’s time to dust off your fur coats and bling, and get ready to make it rain. But before you do, we’re going to give you some outfit inspo…

Flash that cash

Opulence is all about that cash money, so outfits that are money-centric are going to pay dividends. Our first thought here was Macklemore in the Thrift Shop video clip. But if you don’t have a lush fur coat or a slurpie machine at hand, there are still heaps of options for this theme. As a sidetone though, we stan recycled farshun so definitely go pop some tags at a thrift shop to get into this theme.

Blinging it up is a good place to start. If you’re in the mood for some DIY, this video can help you make your own bling to add to necklaces, phone cases and costumes. Big, dark sunnies scream out to be worn, and they keep it cool for both guys and gals. You can definitely accessorise with a lavish hat even if it is a bit on the cheesy side – maybe now is the time to bring out that pimp hat you bought at a party shop all those years ago. Hats are also always a great shareable costume piece to get the squad in on the fun, so the more eye-catching, the better!

Keep it classy

Of course, you don’t have to dress like an emcee to show off your opulence for this theme. We love costumes that are super classy, so dress to impress and rock your best threads! If you’re going for this angle, you’ll want to keep it formal-ish, but you also need to keep in mind that you will be moving and shaking throughout the night.

Floral patterns are a great way to keep it fancy but also a bit more down to earth and chill. In general, bright colours and creative patterns are a mood for this theme, so find your best Gorman, Obus or Dangerfield outfit and rock it! If that’s out of the budget, have yourself a nice little thrift shop moment and pop into Vinnies or Salvos. This theme is also a great excuse to indulge in some much needed self-care. Go get your nails or hair done – looking your best starts with feeling your best so now is the time to treat yoself!

Gorman

One last thing…

Bit of a sidestone before you pop up to Spotlight and start going to town. Webster’s dictionary defines opulence as “abundance, profusion”, which means that you can go a little more out of the box on this theme than just dressing to impress. This could mean an opulence of colour, of jewellery, of layers…really the sky is the limit on this one.

We also recommend checking out looks from the man himself to see what will vibe on the night. Troye’s fashion sense is on point, and having picked this theme, he definitely knows about opulence. If you’re still feeling lost, the pics below should point you in the right direction.
