Age ain’t nothing but a number for one Portland tech-deathcore band. Ancient Burials were set to play a gig at the Hawthorne Theatre in Portland on August 30th but found themselves in a bit of a quagmire when their guitarist was denied entry to the venue on account of him being underage.

Thankfully, Paradigm Shift —the band playing alongside Ancient Burial— were the metal guardian angels of the night. The band solved the access issue by arming the guitarist with wireless gear.

“So our homeboy in Ancient Burials was a bit too young to play inside, so we hooked him up with some wireless gear,” Paradigm Shift shared in a Facebook post.

“I think it has to do with Oregon’s state laws,” bassist Galen VanEeckhoutte explained in a comment. “In my younger years in Michigan playing gigs they always just marked my hands with an X.”

Ancient Burials took to Facebook to share footage of their guitarist shredding it in isolation. “Thank you ParadigmShift for helping us make a shitty situation to something we couldn’t have expected,” the band shared. “To everyone who came out and moshed with us inside & outside the venue, we fucking love you.”

The puny law is no match for the enduring power of metal. Check out the footage of evening below.
