Hell yeah, it’s the greatest day of the working week – Friday – and y’all know what that means, it’s Like A Version time, and boyo, this could be the best of 2015 thus far.

Hitting the Triple J studio this week is rising Perth ’90s alt-rock throwbacks, Tired Lion, who have delivered an incredible rendition of Violent Soho’s ‘Saramona Said’ that features a nice little cut of the Smashing Pumpkins fan favourite, ‘1979’.

The quartet kick the track off with a smokey shoegaze vapour, the vocals of magnetic frontwoman, Sophie Hopes, cutting through the sonic thick as she broodingly sings the burning lyrics “let’s start a fire” before the band seamlessly dive right into the Smashing Pumpkins hit, melding the two alt-rock tunes into one beautiful, anthemic piece.

Tired Lion are definitely an act to keep your eye on, the band are current killing it right now, supporting Aussie indie rock titans British India, charming hearts at every stop along their way. Not only that, but they’ve also announced their EP launch which will see the band perform headline shows in Australia’s capital cities. Give ’em a follow on Facebook and check out their stellar original material right here.

This year has witnessed some amazing Like A Versions, our hearts stopped when #1 Dad’s gave FKA twigs a run for her money, that was after Hiatus Kaiyote’s potential front runner for best of the year, not to mention The Bennies killing an Aussie classic,Sticky Fingers supporting a local act and a personal favourite, when a rising talent showed the big guns how Like A Version is supposed to be done.

Enough out of us, enjoy your Friday in the best way possible courtesy of this sublime alt-rock mash-up:
