Weezer have paid tribute to Blink-182 during their set at Riot Fest Chicago, by covering ‘All The Small Things‘. The band were tagged into the headline slot after the pop punk pioneers were forced to cancel their appearance.

Travis Barker was diagnosed with blood clots in his arms back in June, sidelining the drummer. Due to advice from doctors that drumming would still be too risky, Blink cancelled their fall tour dates, including Riot Fest.

Unfortunately for Weezer, Young the Giant had the same idea about paying tribute to the fallen headliners; they also performed a rendition All The Small Things during their set. Although the band played immediately before Weezer, Rivers Cuomo announced to the audience “…we’re gonna do it anyway, because you can never have too much Blink in your life…”

“Let’s see what it sounds like Weezer-style.”

It’s been a big year of covers or Weezer already, with their rendition of Toto’s ‘Africa’ going #1 on two Billboard charts and making headlines worldwide. Who knows what will be next.
