This weekend, Weezer will feature on a new episode of The Simpsons. Ahead of the release of the episode, the band have released a hair metal-infused cover of the iconic, Danny Elfman-helmed theme song.

The episode is set to feature Weezer as a cover band called Sailor’s Delight, the resident act on a cruise Homer and Marge are taking. The band will play a bunch of tracks from Weezer’s 2019 self-titled record, 2017 record Pacific Daydream and will also premiere a brand new song ‘Blue Dream’, from their forthcoming LP, Van Weezer. If there are any secret admirers out there, trying to figure out how to win my heart, please know that I have decided the only way I will ever be wooed is if you book me a cruise where Weezer are the house band, and they only play music released post-2015.

On May 6th, Weezer released a brand new song ‘Hero’, that honoured the essential workers, and those on the frontline, during the coronavirus pandemic. The track is the second cut we’ve heard from Van Weezer, following ‘The End of the Game,’ which was released last year.

The new album was scheduled to arrive this month, but its release date has been postponed due to coronavirus. “We don’t want to give another release date until we’re absolutely sure of it, we’ll just say ‘stay tuned for more info,’” the band shared in a statement. “In the meantime, we’re working hard on getting you all the new Weezer you can handle including music and more surprises getting announced later this week.”

In the meantime, you can satiate your Weezer cravings with their take on The Simpsons theme. It’s truly one of the most ridiculous arrangements I’ve had the privilege of listening to you, and the only way you should be starting your morning. Check it out below.
