In bizarre news, it appears that there are conflicting reports as to whether Phil Collins is retiring from the music business. Despite statements he made to skin mag FHM, saying that “I don’t think anyone’s going to miss me,” and suggesting he will cease playing due to ongoing health issues; a spokesperson for the ‘Ssssudio’ singing drummer put the kybosh on that suggestion. Rather, they say “He is not, has no intention of, retiring.” Despite suffering tinnitus, dislocated vertebrae and nerve damage of late and considering suicide, the former Genesis drummer and solo star supposedly planned to keep fans listening to his music in the air tonight and every other night. However, in a further remarkable step, Phil’s official website has contradicted the singer’s spokesperson to say he will indeed be retiring. Phil himself supposedly said on his website “I am stopping so I can be a full-time father to my two young sons on a daily basis,” he said. “Many of the articles printed over the last few months have ended up painting a picture of me that is more than a little distorted,” he wrote. “The result is that I have ended up sounding like a tormented weirdo who thinks he was at the Alamo in another life, who feels very sorry for himself, and is retiring hurt because of the bad press over the years. None of this is true.”
