In May it was announced that the Sunshine Coast’s Horton Park Golf Course will play host to one heck of a boutique festival on August 22, 2015 after the inaugural line-up of performing acts and visual artists was released to media. However, festival organisers were tight-lipped when it came to the identity of the “secret” musical headliner which they are now ecstatic to confirm is none other than Maroochydore’s own prodigal sons of internationally acclaimed electronic music Flight Facilities.

Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell have been on a seemingly endless run of successes including national and international headline tours, a collaboration with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra due for October this year, appearances at Coachella 2014, Groovin’ The Moo 2015, VIVID 2015 and last weekend’s Splendour In The Grass where they were widely reported to have incited one of the biggest crowd responses of any act at the festival.

But despite widespread and international demand the opportunity to headline a boutique festival on home turf was too good an offer to pass up as James ‘Jimmy’ Lyell from the duo explained “Festivals weren’t really around when I was growing up on the Coast, so being a part of something like this is really special to me. Not to mention how much fun playing a hometown show with all my friends is going to be!”

In addition to Flight Facilities, this pristine part of the world welcomes Hermitude after the release of their highly anticipated album ‘Dark Night Sweet Light’, the follow up to mega hits ‘Speak of the Devil’ and ‘HyperParadise’. And The Kite String Tangle – the uber-successful triple threat (singer/songwriter/producer) hot on the back of sold-out national tours for his debut EP ‘Vessel’ – will treat his legion of fans to an extended view of his captivating live set.

Brisbane’s favourite ARIA award-winning indie-thrash duo DZ Deathrays will join sonic masters Hiatus Kaiyote, One Day, Alpine, Gang of Youths, Harts, Marlon Williams & the Yarra Benders and WAAX, out in the natural amphitheatre.

Amanda Parer heads the visual artist line up, exhibiting her life size installation Intrude in Maroochydore after touring MONA, London, Berlin and Tokyo, to name a few. These five giant illuminated inflatable bunnies will dot the bunkers and mounds surrounded by Sunshine Coast local street art and digital extravaganzas set to get the heart beating and the mind racing.

Situated in the heart of Maroochydore, this one-day festival will bring culinary delights, specially curated art stalls and many more surprises to come. Punters can expect to rub shoulders with music heavyweights and be immersed in an open-air visual art gallery that will leave them in awe, Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival 2015 promises to give festival-goers from around Australia something to brag about.
