It’s been two years since their last release but Call the Shots are back with another fun-filled EP.
Offering seven songs of pop-punk fulfilment to their rapidly growing fan base, the band appear to be heading onwards and upwards in this competitive genre.
When Everything Goes Wrong starts with a bang as the 48 second, “Breakups Are Fun” sizzles from the stereo. Carrying an almost hardcore element it’s a track that certainly demands the audience’s attention for what lays ahead.
First single “Alexis Texas” has been out for awhile, having already chalked up over 15,000 YouTube hits and its a single that has all the hallmarks of a great pop-punk anthem.
The aptly titled, “I’ll Pop Your Punk” features Mest front man, Tony Lovato, and it’s another soft punk treat for the masses.
“The Bro Song” has an interesting twist half way through the track again delving into a hardcore guitar lick that will surely drive the mosh pits this band drags with them insane.
Finishing with the acoustic almost ballad-like “The World Is Ours Tonight”, Call The Shots have made a fine EP, and hopefully the full album is not too far away.
It’s clear where the band derive their influences from, but they clearly hold their own and Australia have themselves a very fine alternative to All Time Low, Bowling For Soup or New Found Glory.
