The one silver lining to this coronavirus mayhem has been witnessing our favourite musicians execute impossibly creative content in isolation. Yeah Yeah Yeahs have taken to social media to share a truly spectacular iso-rendition of Show Your Bones cut ‘Phenomena’ — live from Karen O’s wardrobe.

If C.S. Lewis was around for this he would’ve had a fucking field day. Karen O managed to make the realm of Narnia look as planned as an IKEA plywood wardrobe. The musician decked out her venue of choice with streamers, foil curtains, strobe lights and a smoke machine. The musician donned a chic as hell Tutankhamun headpiece whilst Nick Zinner shredded the guitar via laptop.

“Somethin’ like a phenomena,” she captioned the video on Instagram. “Party anywhere (closet) anytime (any day of the week) safe at home”.

O’s non-stop-partying sentiment was echoed at the close of the performance, where she commanded her loyal devotees to “fuckin’ party on!” before closing the closet door.

Check out Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform ‘Phenomena’ in isolation:

This is the second closet performance Karen O has cracked of in quar. In April, O shared a performance of YYY deep cut, ‘Our Time’.

“Our Time to be whatevs,” she wrote at the time. “So maybe you hate the year so far- don’t blame you if you do- it’s the year to be hated. Here’s a YYY deep cut from my heart to yours, and fuck yeah for every day you make it through knowing somehow it’s gonna be alright… but couldn’t do it without the essential workers thank you we love ya!”

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are scheduled to hit Australian shores on the weekend of October 24th as part of Splendour In The Grass… which seems ambitious and unlikely but we’re crossing our fingers and toes and knocking on wood like our lives depend on it.
