The Falls Music & Arts Festival has yet to give any clues about their 2014 lineup ahead of the long-running summer staple returning to Lorne, Marion Bay, and Byron Bay (after a successful debut last year) but it looks like one of the bands set for the bill has let slip of their involvement.

It looks like Spiderbait will be one of the top-billed bands on the Falls Festival 2014 lineup, with drummer-frontman Kram all but confirming the iconic Aussie rock trios involvement in a recent interview with Blank Gold Coast (via FasterLouder).

Kram explains that following their national tour this month, Spiderbait are booked for a number of summer music festivals; “I think there’s talk of doing Falls Festival and we’ll do some other festivals in the summer but we’re happy where things are at the moment and we’re happy to be in this band,” Kram reveals.

Discussing Spiderbait’s recent set at Splendour In the Grass, Kram notes: “It’s a festival we’ve played so many times over the years and Jess Ducrou, the owner of Splendour is such a great friend of ours and a supporter of the band, so we’ve played pretty much every two years at Splendour.”

Jessica Ducrou, along with Paul Piticco, is also the co-director of the Falls Festival, helping engineer the event’s expansion into Byron Bay last year after the pair bought into Falls in 2012, enabling Falls and Splendour to co-inhabit the 500-acre Yelgun parklands.

Further strengthening the Spiderbait lineup connection is the fact that Splendour associates Secret Sounds are presenting the band’s Australian tour, which kicks off tomorrow night in Sydney and rounds out with three sold out nights at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel. Full dates and details below.

The Falls Festival 2014 lineup is expected to drop in the next week or so, given the announcement has typically landed in mid-August in previous years. Lana Del Rey is also rumoured for the New Year’s Eve lineup after revealing last month that she plans to tour Australia for “the end of the year” in support of her latest album, Ultraviolence.

Other potential Falls lineup rumour-mongers would do well to look at the acts that played the Splendour & Falls SXSW showcases in Austin earlier this year. Namely, New York indie rockers Skaters, plus US bands Basecamp, De Lux, Drowners and Tor Miller; alongside British acts such as North London alt-rock quartet Wolf Alice, Jetta, and BBC Sound of 2014 picks: “steak and kidney pop” star Chlöe Howl and hard rock twosome Royal Blood.
