Chet Faker is currently in the transitional period where he still has to be billed as ‘Nick Murphy f.k.a. Chet Faker‘. It’s okay, these things take time and everyone’s still coming to terms with the change. Kind of like when he shaved his beard off.

Regardless, Nick Murphy f.k.a. Chet Faker has a new single out. ‘Stop Me (Stop You)’ was premiered on triple j yesterday and serves as yet another taste of Murphy’s new direction and his forthcoming new album, which is reportedly “basically done”.

Speaking to Veronica and Lewis, Murphy revealed he currently has a tracklist and all the songs are written… I just have to do that last 10%, which is always the hardest part. I’ve got a lot more cleaning up to do on the record”.

‘Stop Me (Stop You)’, the follow-up to the warmly received, Thom Yorke-esque ‘Fear Less’, was co-produced with guitarist Dave Harrington, whom you might know from his work with Nicolas Jaar in Darkside.
