Rage Against The Machine are not happy with Nigel Farage. The controversial UK politician and broadcaster has a podcast named Farage Against The Machine and RATM aren’t having a bar of it. They’ve sent him a cease and desist letter demanding he change the podcast’s name.

As Pitchfork reports, the group’s lawyers are demanding the name is changed because it “unlawfully exploits” the band’s name with their permission or prior knowledge. Farage was the leader of the UK Independence Party from 2006-2009 and again from 2010-2016.
Known for his conservative opinions and support for the UK leaving the European Union, the politician is also a contributor to Fox News in the USA. Rage Against The Machine were renowned for their politically conscious songs.
Recently Tom Morello said now was a perfect time for the band to reunite in light of the current state of world politics. In the letter to Farage, the bands disdain for the political figure’s ideologies was made clear.
The full statement has not been published, however highlights include;
“As you should know, RATM has publicly denounced the type of right-wing ideology you espouse for decades,”

“Your anti-immigrant rhetoric, lack of social compassion and barely disguised racism and xenophobia are the antithesis of what RATM stands for.”
“Thus, your surprising attempt to associate yourself with RATM is wholly inappropriate and completely inexplicable, unless it’s part of some kind of bizarre cleansing ritual. Whatever the motivation, please stop. Stop using RATM’s name and logo, change the name of your podcast and find some other target to troll. We suggest President Trump.”
Clearly they are a bit unhappy. Pitchfork reached out to Farage for comment but have not heard anything. Whatever happens, we’ll still be here just waiting for the day the group finally reunites.
