It’s the dream of any aspiring musician, but one young Frenchman has become the envy of rockers everywhere after being plucked from the crowd to play the drums with The Killers over the weekend.

Whenever a young musician heads along to a live performance, they’re undoubtedly dreaming of what it’s like to be up there, strutting their stuff on stage alongside the likes of their heroes. Often these youngsters find themselves enough confidence to campaign for the artist to let them come onstage with them, while sometimes these aspiring musos even manage to upstage the main act themselves.

Over the years, we’ve seen the Foo Fighters bring fans up to perform alongside them on multiple occasions, while Bruce Springsteen has even been graced with the presence of the same Brisbane musician twice while in Australia. Now, The Killers have become the latest band to recruit one of their fans to be a guest musician.

Performing at Lollapalooza Paris over the weekend, The Killers were in the middle of their set when frontman Brandon Flowers noted one fan in the audience holding up a sign that read “Can I drum?”

“Do you know ‘For Reasons Unknown’?” Flowers asks the fan. “No, I know you know it, but do you want to play it? On the drums? In front of all these people?” After answering in the affirmative, François Ristorcelli finds himself climbing onstage to grab the drumsticks from Ronnie Vannucci Jr., and starting to take part in what is clearly one of his life goals.

“These people paid a lot of money to be here tonight, we must make them happy,” exclaims Brandon Flowers before the band and their new sit-in belt out the track’s final chorus.

After a stunning performance of the track which was so good that it seemed to even surprise himself, François was gifted the drumsticks as a memento, before grabbing a selfie with Brandon Flowers and walking back to find his place in the crowd.

Taking to Facebook, François shared the video of the incident, captioning it with the phrase “My first scene is with the killers at Lollapalooza Paris! Just magic”. Let’s be real though, if this is the sort of quality he’s bringing to the table, we can’t wait to see what sort of band François Ristorcelli will be forming in the years to come.
