We might be anxiously waiting for the lineup for the 2019 edition of Download Festival to drop, but it appears one band has spilled the beans a little early, with The Amity Affliction confirming their appearance earlier today.

Earlier this year, we received news that Download Festival was set to expand over to Sydney when it made its return in 2019, and fans were understandably excited. This news then became a reality a few weeks ago when the official dates for the 2019 festival were announced.

While we’ve been waiting for that official lineup to drop though, we’ve seen a fake lineup doing the rounds, raising our hopes and then dashing them ever so valiantly.

However, we now have confirmation about one act that will be on next year’s lineup, with The Amity Affliction confirming their slot on the bill this morning.

Speaking to triple j in support of their new album, Misery, the group were of course asked whether or not their loyal local fans will be getting a chance to hear tracks like ‘Ivy (Doomsday)’ and ‘Feels Like I’m Dying’ played live any time soon.

“The only Australian shows we’re doing are for Download,” revealed Joel Birch. “I probably shouldn’t have said that!”

“This is why I shouldn’t be allowed on radio.”

While the recent announcement from Download Festival noted that that their “corker” lineup is “imminent”, we’re yet to see any further hints or clues from any potential names, so speculation is all we have right now.

While we wait to see just who will be joining us for the second edition of Download Festival Australia, let’s take a moment to appreciate some of the new tunes from The Amity Affliction.
