The hearts of every Tame Impala fan are breaking, with frontman Kevin Parker revealing a huge loss of musical equipment today.
At the current time, the US state of California is battling through some of the most destructive wildfires on record. While a number of lives have been lost, firefighters injured, and properties destroyed, the fires have also taken a toll on musicians as well.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, Kevin Parker revealed he had been forced to leave the Malibu property he was staying at due to wildfire evacuations. Sadly, it seems he was only able to leave with a couple of essentials.
“RIP to all this gear (and someone’s beautiful house) in Malibu,” Parker wrote. “I made it out with my laptop and the Hofner. My heart breaks for the wildlife.”
While fans are undoubtedly glad to know that the Tame Impala frontman is safe, others have begun to wonder how this will affect the recording of the band’s next album.
Back in July, Kevin Parker opened up about his forthcoming recording plans while speaking to Beats 1’s Matt Wilkinson, explaining he was hoping mid-2019 would result in a new Tame Impala record, noting that he would “be really disappointed if we didn’t have something out by then.”
“I’m always working, I’m pretty certain now that another Tame Impala album is my main priority, definitely,” he stated. “I think now I’ve felt that calling. It’s like a calling from beyond.”
“I love playing the songs live, I love playing Currents songs I love playing Lonerism songs and everything but I think I’m ready to play some other songs live.”
“All the instinctual things are there. You know when a bear knows that it’s time to hibernate? When birds fly north or whatever. How do they know? They just feel it.”
Whatever the case, we wish Kevin Parker and everyone affected by these devastating wildfires all the best at this difficult time.
