If you’ve been hanging out for more from Childish Gambino, then we’ve got good news, with next week looking like the prospective release date of his Guava Island project.

2018 was a pretty amazing year for Donald Glover and his Childish Gambino project. In addition to his chart-topping hit ‘This Is America’, fans also received the two-song Summer Pack, which featured the immensely catchy ‘Summertime Magic’.

However, in the midst of all the fun of this new material, fans were left somewhat heartbroken knowing that this could be the last we see of the phenomenal artist.

Throw in a cancelled Aussie tour (though he’s coming back for Splendour In The Grass), and fans were wondering when they’d not only see new tunes from Gambino, but see him live one last time.

Now, it looks as though next weekend could be a big one, with Childish Gambino’s Guava Island ostensibly set for release.

Back in November, fans managed to capture footage of the trailer to Donald Glover’s new film project. Titled Guava Island and featuring Rihanna, the trailer appeared at Childish Gambino’s jaunt over to New Zealand for his PHAROS festival.

While little more was said about the release of Guava Island, it looks as though next week could be when it finally drops.

As Spotify users have been noting, ads for Guava Island have begun to appear, noting a release date of April 13th.

Of course, this date is already special to fans of the artist, as it happens to coincide with his headlining performance at next weekend’s Coachella festival.

Add in the fact that he’ll also be one of the acts whose sets are being livestreamed around the world, and it’s looking as though we could be looking at one of the biggest album rollouts in recent history.

Of course, it isn’t clear what exactly Guava Island is. Given its announcement on Spotify, it will clearly be music-related, but since Rihanna had some involvement, will it be a film as well? A visual album? Or something entirely different?

What we do know is that we only have another week to go before we find out. Let’s be fair though, the only thing that could make this more exciting is if we happen to get a special Childish Gambino release for Record Store Day on the very same date.
