Slipknot are the latest artist to launch their own range of spirits, with the group launching their own brand of whiskey recently.

For as long as music has existed, fans have found ways to incorporate alcohol into the occasion, whether it be sipping it as the band sings, or writing songs about the stuff.

Over the years, we’ve seen plenty of artists launch their own range of whiskey, including the likes of The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Metallica, but now Slipknot are the latest musicians to enter the world of hard liquor.

Announcing the news via Instagram recently, the group’s No. 9, whiskey is set to be made available on the group’s upcoming American tour.

A collaboration with the Iowa-based Cedar Ridge Winery & Distillery, No. 9 Iowa Whiskey (90 proof) and No. 9 Reserve Iowa Whiskey (99 proof) are made with corn from the award-winning distillery’s family farm in Winthrop, Iowa,” the group explained.

In an interview with Fred Minnick of Forbes, Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan explained that the group’s decision to enter the world of alcohol with whiskey seemed just as good as any other venture.

“Why not? I start everything. I want to do everything, but I’m not like a lot of people that just do things to do it,” Clown explained.

“I have to have a quality base. I don’t come directly at anything in this world for just money. I do it for quality to give people something new. It’s kind of like being in music.

“We feel proud to bring our new music every four years. After we write an album, we tour the world. We’re proud to do that, you know. Same thing with the whiskey: I’m proud to be able to give our fans and the rest of the world a fine quality whiskey and with Cedar Ridge.”

In related news, Slipknot are set to return to Australia later this year when they visit as part of Metallica’s long-awaited headline tour. No word yet if the merch table might stock a few bottles of the hard stuff, but sadly, we’re not feeling too hopeful.
