Soulja Boy looks set to embark upon “the biggest comeback of 2019” soon, with the rapper being released from jail three months early over the weekend.

Back in March, it was revealed that 28-year-old rapper Soulja Boy had been arrested, and charged with violating his probation after he was found with ammunition at his California home.

The musician had been on probation since 2014, when he was convicted of carrying a loaded weapon in public. While he had been sentenced to 24 months of probation, he was arrested for violating this parole in 2016 after law enforcement found weapons in house.

The legal troubles didn’t stop there though, with Soulja Boy eventually being charged with further felonies and misdemeanours relating to the possession of firearms, before eventually behind convicted of these felonies in 2017, and being sentenced to five years of probation.

Wile the rapper had his Los Angeles home burglarised while in lockup, May saw Soulja sentenced to a total of 240 days in jail, with 265 days of community service to follow.

However, as TMZ reports, Soulja Boy is now a free man, having been released from jail over the weekend.

According to TMZ, jail records indicated that Soulja Boy was scheduled to be released from jail on Sunday morning, with an official going on to confirm that the rapper walked free just before 2am.

The reason for his early release – a full 146 days earlier than planned – is reportedly due to a combination of factors, including good behaviour, time served, and overcrowding.

At this stage, it’s not clear what Soulja Boy’s next move is, but in a video shared by his manager just last month, the rapper explained he was going to make 2019 his year once he was released.

“I’m just letting all my fans know I’m gonna be home real, real soon,” Soulja said in the video. “The biggest comeback of 2019 continues. You hear me? It’s going down, ya dig what I’m saying?”

“The album on the way. The shoes on the way. The movie on the way.

“I been reading all y’all letters, man,” he continued. “I appreciate it, man. I’m going on tour, man. Like I said, the biggest comeback of 2019. Jail!? Jail!? Come on, man. You know I do this.

“I love all my fans, it ain’t over. It’s a minor setback for a major comeback.”

While we’re not sure what new avenues Soulja Boy’s early release will now open up, it appears that the most ambitious rapper out there now has time to work on his upcoming album, movie, and shoe line without the warden breathing down his neck.
