Two of Australia’s most iconic musical exports are officially hitting the road together. Courtney Barnett has been confirmed to open for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds on their upcoming UK tour.
Courtney Barnett and Nick Cave are set to share the stage beginning in May. Their joint itinerary includes visits to Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, and Dublin. The two acts also have a two-night stand at The O2 in London.
For Barnett, these dates follow her first-ever US solo tour, as well as the release of her surprise album, MTV Australia Unplugged Live in Melbourne. As for Cave, he just announced a North American fall trek in support of his nearly flawless Ghosteen album.

One fan in the latest instalment asked him if he liked Kanye West, and – as usual – the songwriter went a little deeper.
“Making art is a form of madness – we slip deep within our own singular vision and become lost to it,” he observed. “There is no musician on Earth that is as committed to their own derangement as Kanye, and in this respect, at this point in time, he is our greatest artist.”
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have also recently released the full version of their 2018 concert film Distant Sky Live In Copenhagen on YouTube for free. The film’s online release comes as a Christmas present to fans, from the most generous of gift-givers, St. Nick himself.
Directed by David Barnard (who has also shot live concert films for Bjork, Gorillaz, and Alice Cooper), the film sees the iconic band perform a lengthy two-and-a-half-hour set at Denmark’s Royal Arena in October 2017.
