Canadian rockers and perennial meme subjects Nickelback have confirmed they’ll release an official documentary in the near future. The revelation comes as good news for those fans recently devastated to find out the band has no new music on the horizon.
Whether you’re a fan of Nickelback or not, there’s no doubting their impact on music in the 2000s. Aptly, they’re set to drop a new doco that will celebrate the 15th anniversary of 2005 album All The Right Reasons, which was certified Diamond in the US.
The record was beloved in Australia too, spending a whopping 65 weeks on the ARIA Albums Chart, with a peak of #2.
Guitarist Ryan Peake confirmed the forthcoming documentary in a video message to fans overnight. “We teased a documentary on our tour a year and a half ago. And I won’t bore you with all the details — it is very close to being released. So please stay tuned,” he said.
Peake even cheekily admitted that some people might not be too excited about the new album, but that he and the band don’t care. You don’t want a Nickelback doco? Bad luck, you’re getting one.
“I would say in the next month or two, we may have something for everybody who wants to see everything Nickelback. Even if you don’t wanna see everything Nickelback, we will have it all for you.”

The Canadians had several big hit tracks in Australia throughout the 2000s, including ARIA #2 singles ‘Far Away’ and ‘How You Remind Me’, as well as ‘Photograph’ (#3) and ‘Someday’ (#4).
Nickelback are also due to tour the US this year as part of the anniversary celebrations of All The Right Reasons, but that tour will surely come under question given the rate at which COVID-19 is devastating the US.
The band enjoyed a boost to their streaming numbers in 2019, thanks to US President Donald Trump’s use of the ‘Photograph’ meme in a video decrying Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden.
