Arguably the biggest music festival in the world, and definitely the most celebrity-filled, Coachella dropped its 2019 lineup late yesterday.

It was chock full of upcoming and establishing artists but really what we care about it how many Aussies are getting in on this sweet, sweet California desert action.

So we took it upon ourselves to rifle through this year’s two weekends to see which Australia acts will be making our country proud come April.

Tame Impala

A tiny little band hailing from Perth, you might not know them, they’re only the second Australia band EVER to nab a top billing spot on the ‘chella line up (the first was AC/DC). Many are speculating that this will be when Kevin Parker will give the world the first taste of the follow-up to Currents. It also puts that chances at high that Tame Impala might drop by to headline OUR biggest festival later in the year.

Rüfüs Du Sol

The dance trio from Sydney got an excellent billing spot on this year’s lineup, popping up on line two above Anderson .Paak and Kacey Musgraves. This just proves what a stellar year the boys have had, singles from their 2018 album Solice have been charting all over the world while they already have two ARIA platinum albums under their belt.

FISHER

Ooooft, if there’s anyone that deserves the “I Blew Up In 2k18” award is it producer/DJ FISHER. He might have missed out on the Best Dance Recording at last year’s ARIAs but you could not go anywhere in the last 12 months without hearing his single Losing It. He might be based in LA now but we’re still proud from afar.

Anna Lunoe

This will be the Sydney-born, California-based DJ’s third time heading out to Indio, which kind of explains how she only found out about her 2019 slot via Twitter. Her 2018 single Blaze Of Glory is a bop and comes with an aesthetically pleasing video to boot!

Parcels

Another brilliant example of acts forming in Australia and then leaving us forever (jks, probably not forever). Parcels met and started creating music in Byron Bay back in 2014 before getting discovered by Daft Punk, performing on Conan, popping up on Glastonbury, moving to Berlin and releasing their debut, self-titled album in October last year. You will know them from their single Tieduprightnow which you heard once on triple j and then couldn’t get out of your head for a year.

Mansionair

Yeah, I guess you could say electro-trio Mansionair had a good 2018, they only got nominated for a bloody Grammy for their collab with ODEZA on Line Of Sight. Chuck in a duo of ripper singles and it’s no wonder the band has found themselves on the closing nights of both weekends.
