Just a matter of days after A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan Tweeted that new music from the band was looking likely, the band have just started teasing something called ‘The Doomed’, much to the delight of eager fans.
On Thursday, Maynard James Keenan Tweeted out a message stating that he was stepping away from his Caduceus Cellars winery in order to work on rehearsals for A Perfect Circle’s upcoming tour. His Tweet also noted that he was learning new tracks and mentioned the year 2018, which of course sent fans into a frenzy as they clamoured for new information, speculating wildly about what could be on the horizon for the band.
Stepping away from @caduceuscellars Bunker & straight into @aperfectcircle tour rehearsals. Gotta learn these new tracks #apc2018 #ineedanap

Now, just a couple of days later, the official A Perfect Circle Twitter account shared a simple video, teasing something titled ‘The Doomed’. The 15 second clip features no music, but shows the group’s logo before the words ‘The Doomed’ appear. Understandably, fans are trying desperately to work out what it means.

The Tweet attracted a flurry of attention, with fans trying to ascertain important details, namely whether ‘The Doomed’ is a new song, a new album, or even the name of some upcoming tour. As we noted previously, the band’s current tour wraps up at the end of the year, leaving 2018 wide open for something, anything, to happen.
While the group’s last full-length record, Emotive, was released in 2004, the group’s most recent tune was ‘By And Down’, which was released on their Three Sixty retrospective release in 2013.
Of course, the band have been promising new music for a while, stating last year that they had plans to give us new tunes in 2017. With the year now in its final few months, the appearance of ‘The Doomed’ does seem to indicate that the group are on track to keep their promise of new music.
While we’ll have to wait and see to actually understand whatever ‘The Doomed’ is, it seems as though A Perfect Circle are on track to beat Tool in the ‘which Maynard James Keenan project can release an album first’ race. Come on, Maynard, we’ll take anything at this stage.
