Tom DeLonge’s Angels & Airwaves project have returned with their first new single of original material in three years.

Ever since Angels & Airwaves released their debut album, We Don’t Need To Whisper, back in 2006, fans have been loving the ‘space rock’ stylings of founding Blink-182 member Tom DeLonge.

Following DeLonge’s departure from Blink-182 in 2015, fans expected his other band to pick up the pace and start releasing music with a bit more frequency.

Ironically though, things seemed to slow down, with just a handful of EPs being released, while DeLonge continued his side hustle as a respected UFO researcher and children’s author.

Now though, we’ve finally received Angels & Airwaves’ first new single in three years.

Titled ‘Rebel Girl’, the new single is the first taste of Angels & Airwaves’ first studio album since 2014’s The Dream Walker – a record that’s been teased for close to two years now.

“’Rebel Girl’ is a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for New Wave, pop punk and anthemic rock and roll music,” Tom DeLonge says of the new material.

“As some of you might’ve heard, I recently took a brief minute to start up an aerospace company, so you never know – I may play this song from a satellite deep in space, beamed toward everyone’s house viciously on repeat.”

While news of a new single and album is undoubtedly getting fans excited, Angels & Airwaves have also announced their return to the live stage, plotting their first live shows since 2012 in the process.

Set to kick off in the US this September, there’s no word yet as to whether Tom DeLonge will be bringing his band down to Australia for the first time since Soundwave in 2012.

Regardless, it’s looking as though 2019 is set to be a big year for Angels & Airwaves. All we have to do now is sit back and wait for the new record to finally arrive.
