The Avalanches’ third record is already looking promising, with the group revealing an intriguing little collaboration that they’ve just wrapped up.

It’s hard to believe, but it has almost been three years since we received The Avalanches’ third album, Wildflower.

A record 16 years in the making, fans soon seemed to take delight in asking the reclusive group just when album number three might be on the way.

However, The Avalanches seemed quite ready for such a question, revealing back in 2017 that they were already hard at work on a follow-up.

“In the few weeks since we’ve been home from the States, me and Tony have just been writing,” Robbie Chater explained to FBi Radio. “It’s flowing so quickly.”

“I think getting Wildflower out of the way and following up Since I Left You feels like a weight’s been lifted. The music is really light, it’s some of the best stuff we’ve done.”

Now, the duo have given us an intriguing update as to what will be on their next album.

Taking to Facebook earlier today, The Avalanches revealed that they had just wrapped up a collaboration with acclaimed American soul singer Leon Bridges.

To make things even more exciting though, they revealed that it was recorded in none other than Sunset Sound – the same studio Prince recorded Purple Rain.

Although The Avalanches haven’t given us any more information as to what this new collab sounds like, or when we might hear it, it already seems as though album number three is shaping up to be a rather eclectic affair.

According to posts shared on the group’s Facebook, and research from inquisitive Redditors, it’s looking as though the new record could feature contributions from the likes of Cornelius, JPEGMAFIA, Josh Freese, Wayne Coyne, The East Coast Inspirational Singers, and Cola Boyy.

Whatever the case, we’re just hoping we won’t be waiting another 16 years for the next record.
