Casyo Johnson, one half of British rap duo Krept and Konan, was assaulted backstage at a Radio 1Xtra gig on the weekend, leading to the massive event being cancelled midway through.

Reported by The Guardian, Krept and Konan were not scheduled to perform at the arena event that featured the likes of French Montana and WizKid, however Krept was backstage when an unnamed male attacked him with a knife. Thankfully, the rapper was able to be treated on site and did not require hospitalisation.

The attack sent ripples through the UK hip-hop community, with the likes of Lady Leshurr and DJ Semtex both voicing their concern and best wishes for Krept as the news broke.

Krept himself has reassured fans that he’s okay and moving on.

“Was really looking forward to this week so I’m keeping the same energy I had, it’s gonna be a good week.” he wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you for all the messages I’m good truss me. Could have been a lot worse. Stay positive my people. Happy Sunday.”

Police have made no arrests as yet, but are investigating CCTV footage from the incident.

Krept and Konan have been influential members of the British Grime scene since their debut album, The Long Way Home, dropped in 2015. MOBO and BET Award winners, Krept and Konan have also broken the record for the highest charting UK album by an unsigned act with The Long Way Home.
