After President Donald Trump reportedly called his VP Mike Pence a ‘pussy’, the only thing for Stephen Colbert to do was make a ‘WAP’ parody.
As he continued to fight the recent result of the U.S. election, Trump said to Pence before he went to the Capitol to oversee the electoral vote count that he could “either go down in history as a patriot or you can go down in history as a pussy,” as reported by The New York Times. Pence was heading to the Capitol to certify Joe Biden as the outright winner of the 2020 Presidential election which Trump was of course against.
As a long-time denouncer of Trump, The Late Show host Colbert was never going to miss this opportunity. As per Billboard, he remixed Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s huge hit ‘WAP’, incorporating Trump’s statement to Pence. That song, hated by many Republicans as soon as it was released last year, was the perfect song for the parody.
During the cold open for his show on Wednesday, January 13th, the instantly recognisable notes of ‘WAP’ appeared, alongside footage of buds Trump and Pence. The OG lyrics were replaced with Colbert’s comedic version below.
“A sitting POTUS called his Veep/A name that needs bleeped/Body part that scares Mike Pence so much that night he couldn’t sleep/Donald Trump called Mike Pence a pussy/Because he wouldn’t contest/Trump called Pence a pussy/Opposite of being best/Trump called Pence a pussy/How’s that back feel gettin’ stabbed?/Trump called Pence a pussy/Guess this means he’s getting grabbed/Trump called Pence a pussy.”
Somehow that wasn’t the most embarrassing thing to happen to Trump on Wednesday either. That day saw him become the only American president to be impeached twice, when he was charged with “incitement of an insurrection.”
It came after pro-Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building last week, a riot that resulted in six deaths so far.
