Download Festival is just one month away. The lineup is confirmed and anticipation is rife. But the organisers are still fiddling with the finer details, including the venue for the March 21 Sydney event.

The Sydney leg of Download 2020 was scheduled to go ahead at Parramatta Park, west of the city. That’s where 2019’s inaugural Sydney instalment took place, featuring veterans like Judas Priest, Slayer, and Alice In Chains as well as Ghost, Thy Art Is Murder and High Tension.

But Parramatta Park has been deemed unfit for this year’s festivities. Download Sydney will now take place in the heart of the CBD. That’s right, the picturesque Domain will host headliners My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World, Deftones, Ministry, In Flames and stacks more.

“Our friends at Parramatta Park had initially advised they could host Download 2020,” the organisers said in a statement. “However … it was found that given the unique setup and infrastructure required for the event, it would not be the right space to deliver the reassurance to safely present the event with the number of people attending, stages and crowd movement.”

Long story short, Parramatta Park wasn’t up to scratch so they’re moving to the Domain. Sounds like an upgrade if you ask me. Plus, in further good news, seeing as Download is an over-18s event there are no restrictions on drinking areas.

My Chemical Romance are appearing at Download Sydney and Melbourne in an Australia exclusive. It’ll also be your only chance to catch Clutch and Alestorm in Australia this time around. Hellions, Dead Letter Circus and Orpheus Omega were the final names added to the 2020 lineup.
