Drake has pulled up to the 2021 Billboard Music Awards to accept his Artist of the Decade award.
The Certified Lover Boy wasn’t alone to accept the award, standing side by side with his son, Adonis. To express his gratitude in receiving the award, Drake revealed that he’s baffled (probably just as much as his haters are) at how he came to be in this position, saying that he doesn’t understand it himself.
He began, “Thank you very, very, very, very much. That video was video was really full of a lot of confidence and bravado, but you know the truth is, I’m really bad at taking compliments.”
The ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ artist continued, “Yeah, no, I’m really, really self conscious about my music, and even if I do a good job, I always wonder, you know how I could have done it better. I rarely celebrate anything. And just for anyone watching this that’s wondering how this happened, you know, that’s really the answer, being so unsure how you’re getting it done that you just you just kind of keep going in the hopes of figuring out the formula, feeling so lucky and blessed that the fear of losing and keeps you up at night.”
“I didn’t really write a grandiose speech about how to make it work or what it took, because, you know to be really honest with you I don’t quite understand it myself, but I just know that I’ve spent an incalculable amount of hours trying to analyse all the things I did wrong, but tonight for once, I’m sure as hell we did something right.”
While Drake might be stunned with honour, taking a look back at his past decade in music, his success reveals just how deserving he is of the accolade.
To conclude his acceptance speech he thanked everyone who’s helped him along the way to get where he is today, as well as dedicating the award to his son.

“I want to dedicate this award to my friends, I want to dedicate this award to my longtime collaborators, I want to dedicate this award to all my peers, all of your decisions and the music you make really does have me tossing and turning at night trying to figure out what I should do next so thank you. To my beautiful family, and to you. I wanna dedicate this award to you.”
