The Future Music Festival 2014 lineup has been announced with the first lineup under the new Frontier Touring and Future alliance revealed at an industry laucnh today announcing the “blockbuster” list of artists.

“Prepare to get Madagascar-azy,” tout festival organisers over the Safari theme for next year’s edition of the annual festival, promising the Future Music Festival 2014 lineup sees “some of the biggest artists in the world today sharing the stage alongside the freshest new talent,” reasserting the event as still being “king of the jungle!”

Leading the Future Music Festival 2014 lineup announcement is groundbreaking electronic act Deadmau5, confirming the heavy bout of rumours that the Canadian dubstep overlord would be headlining the festival. Joining Deadmau5 at the top of the bill are the hugely popular hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and the long-awaited return of French indie favourites, Phoenix.

Also on the Future Music Festival 2014 lineup is a huge mix of EDM all-stars, including – for the first time ever – superstar Eric Prydz, homegrown heroes Knife Party, and Dutch DJ Hardwell, who along with electro rock quartet Rudimental, are backing up their Future 2013 appearance. Rudimental were also on hand to perform at the Sydney industry launch of the Future Music Festival 2014 lineup.

The lineup also features British rapper Tinie Tempah, producer-performers Chase & Status, ‘Harlem Shake’ provocateur Baauer, new wave hip hop artist 2 Chainz, the Grammy-nominated Paul Van Dyk, the return of Melbourne electropop favourites Cut Copy, and as previously reported, Iranian DJ Dubfire. Rounding out the Future Music Festival 2014 lineup are Sub Focus, Netsky, Kaskade, Dada Life, Porter Robinson, Naughty Boy, and nearly 30 other acts.

The Future Music Festival 2014 lineup also arrives with the news that next year’s event will head to new venues – Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds and the Adelaide Showgrounds – as well as a host of new indoor and outdoor stages, ensuring the party continues “rain, hail, or shine.”

Meanwhile Sydney’s Randwick Racecourse site will be undergoing a major overhaul as apart of a $150 million venue facelift. “Think huge open expanses, state of the art new infrastructure featuring a five-level grandstand, great new VIP and First Class facilities, and the epic debut of the theatre of the horse arena,” tease Future Music organisers. There is also a focus on “enhanced, state of the art audio,” including “spine-tingling light shows and crystal clear sound, using new technologies such as audio mapping.”

The Future Music Festival 2014 lineup is the first as part of the event’s new partnership with Michael Gudinski’s Frontier Touring to present the flagship series, as well as its ‘sister event’, the underage Good Life Festival.

The partnership has also drawn a lot of attention following reports that companies formerly tied to Future Music Festival have entered into liquidation amongst an estimated $500,000 or more owed to creditors of the 2013 editions of Future Music Festival. The new partnership company, called Future Music Pty Ltd, was forged after Michael Gudinski acquired the trademarks from a ‘mysterious’ third party.

The Frontier Touring boss has emphasised that the new venture is “an entirely new company… it has nothing to do with those other companies [that are entering liquidation].” Along with Gudisnki, his son Matt and Festival Director Brett Robinson, the new look Future Music Festival has kept on former boss Jason Ayoubi as a consultant, while it was recently revealed that Ayoubi had been embroiled in an ongoing trademark dispute with ice-cream makers Cold Rock that sees them pursuing the fetival figure for around $300,000.

Behind the scenes stirrings aside, the Future Music Festival 2014 lineup ensures that the annual event continues unabated.

Tickets are $160 plus booking fee (while Adelaide gets a slightly reduced price of $155 + b/f) and go on sale Tuesday 1st October.
