Jared Leto has firmly denied allegations of sexual misconduct raised against him in a recent report published by Air Mail, which details accounts from nine women, including some who were minors at the time of their alleged encounters with the actor and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman.
The report, published on June 9th, features multiple women sharing their experiences with Leto, as reported by Rolling Stone. One unnamed woman claimed she began a texting relationship with Leto while underage, during which he allegedly sent inappropriate messages, including: “Do any of the little boys you hang out with fuck you?” She alleged that their interactions became physical once she turned 18, recounting a disturbing incident at his home where he exposed himself, began masturbating, and forced her hand onto him whilst requesting she “spit on it.”
Model Laura La Rue detailed to Air Mail that she first encountered Leto in 2008 when she was just 16 years old, and he was 36. Despite allegedly being aware of her age, La Rue claims Leto requested her phone number. She stated that a year later, at age 17, she visited his home where “He just walked out, dick out, like it was normal… I thought maybe this was just what adult men do.”
In response to La Rue’s allegations, Leto’s representatives told Air Mail: “Their communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate and Ms. La Rue later applied to work as Mr. Leto’s personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions.” La Rue has denied applying to work as Leto’s personal assistant.
The Air Mail report also resurfaced previous social media allegations, including those from Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz, who wrote on Facebook in 2012: “You’re [sic] not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage… In a kilt. And a snow hat.” In a subsequent post, she claimed, “I was assaulted and traumatised by this creep when I was 17. He knew my age and didn’t care. What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable.”
The report additionally highlighted that director James Gunn and actor Dylan Crouse have previously made public accusations about Leto’s alleged inappropriate behaviour on social media platforms.
Rumours regarding Leto’s conduct have circulated in Hollywood for years, with the Air Mail investigation bringing renewed attention to these allegations.
